Police Officer Arrested for Drunk Driving Accident

A Buenos Aires police officer identified as Rubén Caballero Brito has been accused of hitting a cyclist in the city of Mar del Plata while driving under the influence, without a license and without the Vehicle Technical Verification (VTV). The incident occurred at the intersection of Alvarado and Arenales streets when the gray Volkswagen Gol, driven by the 31-year-old officer, collided with the bicycle. The cyclist suffered minor injuries and went to the Fractures Clinic on her own.

The officer had 1.64 grams of alcohol in his blood at the time of the accident. After the collision, agents from the second precinct and traffic conducted a breathalyzer test, which was positive. Furthermore, it was discovered that the accused did not have a driver's license or the VTV, prompting the prosecutor for Criminal Offenses, Germán Vera Tapia, to order the vehicle's confiscation. As a result, Caballero was detained and is expected to appear before the prosecutor on Friday.
